FEAP 2f
Maintains a climate of openness, inquiry, fairness, and support
I demonstrated this FEAP during my individual assessments with my focus student during my internship. Most of our assessments were phonological, phonemic, or spelling based. These can sometimes be difficult, long, or stressful for students. In order to encourage my student to try their best and not get dsicouraged, I verbally encouraged him before, during, and after the asserssments. This demonstrates FEAP 2f because it encourages my student to try hard things and to not be afraid of making mistakes. This is crucial for student-teacher relationships and detrimental to a stduent' success..
EVIDENCE: VIDEO FROM ONE-ON-ONE ASSESSMENT (PAST ASSESSMENT)
I demonstrated this FEAP during a small instructional activity during my internship. While administering the activity, I was going over the answers with my students. I gave the right explanation, but accidentally gave the wrong definition. When I realized I made a mistake, I had the students go back and I explained and had them correct their answer. This is important not only to prevent misinformation, but to create an environment where students feel open to share their answers even if they might not be correct. I explained that everybody makes mistakes and how this helps us learn and improve. I also demonstrated this FEAP by allowing students to openly share their answers and reasoning behind it.
