FEAP 6A
The effective educator adheres to the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession of Florida.

  1. What do you see as the purpose of the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession of Florida?

I see the purpose of the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct as a means to protect the whole child. As en educator, there are a set of obligations to meet to protect the mental and physical well-being of every student to the best of one's ability.

2.  What is a specific detailed example from this semester when you demonstrated being an ethical educator?

A specific example of demonstrating ethical practices as an educator during my Level 3 Semester is attending progress monitoring and diagnostic review meetings with administration and maintaining confidentiality of student information. This meeting entailed descriptive data on each student's academic performance accompanied with outside circumstances that could be impacting said performace. It also included strategies for the educators to implement to best benefit the individual student. I valued and protected this confidential information by not discussing the matter with individuals outside of the meeting.

3. How is this specific example connected to the Code of Ethics?

This specific example is connected to the Code of Ethics because it demonstrates the professional and ethical behavior of protecting private student information from others. Discussing the performance of a student in a negative manner, or publicly, does not withhold an educator's duty to create a positive academic environment nor does it maintain the student's best interest.
