EXPLORING MY MANAGEMENT BELIEFS- REFLECTIVE BLOG
In EDE4504, we did a quick write activity that was centered around our classroom management beliefs. I included the idea of using a hierarchy system for behavior management; however, I also heavily focused on the idea of primarily creating a positive environment for my students. This includes building positive relationships, creating a community, having consistent expectations, and giving every student a sense of belonging. Overall, I want to make my classroom a positive environment to limit misbehavior, and if problems still arise I want to deal with it in the most efficient way for the student and class.
MY QUICK WRITE

MY MODEL:

As you can see, I made several "students" with different features in a circle together, with the "teacher" in green within the circle. I also added a heart in the middle to symbolize the love and empathy that I will model in my class. My model was meant to reflect a community that considers and embraces the needs of every individual
REFLECTION
Overall, my model and my peers' words lined up. However, one peer wrote that my model reminded them of a teacher-centered classroom. This is the opposite of what I intended. I made the "teacher" a different color to represent the line of positive relationships and leadership. However, I included the teacher in the circle with the diverse students to portray my intention to include myself as part of my classroom community in an effort to understand all of my students. Other than that, it appears that my model clearly represented my motive to my peers. There were several comments about community and love. Therefore, I learned that my visual representation of my classroom management beliefs portrayed a true connection between teacher and students, and one of love and compassion. This will encourage me to further embrace my beliefs in my field experience.
CONNECTION TO FEAPs
FEAP 5e: Engages in targeted professional growth opportunities and reflective practices
This activity relates to FEAP 5e because it demonstrates my ability to not only gather intricate thoughts on my teaching beliefs; but also gave me an opportunity to reflect on how others may perceive my beliefs and what I may do to change my actions.
